The Kat’s Meowwww….

Kat Dahlia

Kat Dahlia

Kat Dahlia is her name and she is from another planet. No, but seriously this Miami native has been cut from a new type of cloth. For someone who started at such a young age this 21 year old has the potential to blaze a trail with her talent that we have never seen before. She is hip hop, she is r&b, she is pop, she is jazz and she can not be put into a box. What she has created from her life experiences should be described as a magical spoken illustration to music. Sounds corny now but once you hear it you will understand. The emotion & passion she puts in these songs are real.

The tracks that we have uncovered paint a picture of a talented, tough, rough around the edges, but delicate artist. Her sound is raw and refreshing. She displays emotions of sadness, happiness, and personal growth. There is so much greatness in her talent it’s not even fair. Its almost like a mix between Jay Z and the late Amy Winehouse with this gritty and grimy accent like Pitt Bull and finesse of, yes, Rihanna you can’t deny it… A very unique combination that sounds phenomenal.

Kat has been recently signed and its looking very promising with a heavy radio rotation of her increasingly popular track Gangsta. This track is CRACK!!! And we think the track is an accurate showcase of her talents. So check her out and let us know what you think. Check the tracks & post back.

Have you tried this Acid Rap???

If you slept on our post back in October then of course you don’t know about this #AcidRap. The mixtape from the one and only, Chance the Rapper, which dropped back in April has to be one of the most perfect body of work for the young rapper. Every track he owns, exhibiting his very distinct style of which has vastly improved. Chance the Rappers’ Acid Rap will be one of the top mixtapes of the year! With features from Twista, Childish Gambino, and Kids These Days and some of the most abstract production, makes Acid Rap a masterpiece. Chance the Rapper shows that his #10days from school turned out to be a blessing from the All Mighty. Floored in amazement with the progression of his ever improving style and flow, we see Chance riding the wave of Acid Rap straight to stardom.

Underachievers? (@theualifestyle) What you think?

The Underachievers

The Underachievers

Not to long ago this mixtape cover caught some eyes with its very unique and intriguing artwork, after listening to that mixtape The Underachievers were what we found. This name is the absolute opposite of what they have achieved with their debut mixtape Indigoism. Two MC’s are the members of this club called The Underachievers, AK (@iunderachieve) & Issa Dash (@issa_dash) both representing NY and this new Beast Cost movement. A movement loosely being pushed forward by the likes of Joey Bada$$ and his Pro Era crew, also the Flatbush Zombies, and ASAP Mob… Now after reading those names know one thing, The Underachievers will give you a totally different trip with their sound because Indigoism is defiantly a trippy ride.

On Indigoism get ready for very laid back beats mixed with a lot of psychedelic properties. With The Underachievers sped up flows over these doped up beats makes for a very lethal combination. But the most trippy part of this ride is the lyrics… Are they conscious? We don’t know if The Underachievers are what most would call conscious rappers… But maybe they have created a new definition with two positive rappers with some darkness and a lot of hunger striving to achieve success and giving you the real along the way. Even with all these elements they are able to also include elements of jazz, blues, and reggae which fuse perfectly form one track to the next. This will no doubt be a sound for the #REALHIPHOP heads, a commercial ni33a won’t be able to feel this sh!t. But don’t feel bad if you don’t feel it, just listen to it again (and maybe open that 3rd eye).

Hope you all get as much out of Indigoism as much as we did. The track below are there for you to listen to, so check the tracks, post back, and let us know how you feel. Like or not we want to know yo thoughts!

Will ASAP LIVE LONG?

The long awaited album from ASAP Rocky has finally hit the streets and it has hit with plenty of hype and a little controversy. From ASAP’s comment about Lil Wayne‘s choice of clothing to Rihanna‘s choice of recreational hobbies and whether the media tries to spin it to be negative or not, one thing is clear the album is positively a hit! ASAP has lived up to the hype, even with the overload of features which in most cases can be a red flag for disaster, ASAP has proven us wrong. With Drake, Skrillex, 2 ChainzSantigoldKendrick Lamar (twice people! he put Kendrick on the album TWICE!!!) and many more ASAP Rocky lets you know who’s album this is. Literally ASAP Rocky rips every track on this album and deserves yo money for this one.  With that being said we believe Rocky WILL live long in this game and YES the album is dope! But if you’re still on the fence even after reading this post then waste your time and read another blog to see what they say… Naw f*ck dat just go buy the album cause we said so! If you think it sucks we’ll give you yo money back… Lol!

Now with his highly anticipated, 4th studio album, Wiz Khalifa brings you O.N.I.F.C. And let us tell you this will be a classic. We talkin’ Lil Wayne, Carter IV status! This album is beyond anyones expectations so PLEASE DO NOT be surprised if Wiz sales over 1 million copies. And with 17 tracks, 3 bonus tracks and 2 videos Wiz deserves to sale over a mil. The number of tracks ain’t even close to the best part, it’s the perfection he puts in every line he spits on every track that makes this album so special. After listening to O.N.I.F.C we are happy for Wiz Khalifa and even more excited to see how well this album will do!  O.N.I.F.C drops Dec 4th and either you’ll be a part of history and cop it or you won’t…It’s that simple.

Tell Ya Friends About This!!!

King Chip

So I was listening to some Curren$y the other day (Priest Andretti of course) and heard this voice that just flat lined the track. Had to find out who it was…The name said King Chip??? Huh, Who? So I found King Chip on the most reputable site known to man…Wikipedia duh. Come to find out King Chip is a name change. Even with that said you still ain’t gone know who this is, if that was the case I wouldn’t be writing about him now. But I know as you read this your like, I know every tight rapper known to man (in your smart guy voice) So you’ve heard of Chip tha Ripper… NO! You HAVE NOT! And lyrically he’s killing most out now.

After finding out he changed his name I realized who he was and found out he has a new mixtape coming… But that aint out yet so we gone talk bout his latest. “Tell Ya Friends” King Chip latest mixtape that dropped earlier this year and will give you a good idea why we say he killing most out now. This mixtape has great production from names like Hi-Tek & Chuck Inglish that put King Chip in the spotlight. Even though there is some dope ass features like Bun B & Krayzie Bone, Chip still shows why he is soon to be a star.

So if you knew about him before this post or not, it doesn’t matter. You still need to check the tracks, download the mixtape, listen and enjoy anyways!!! Because we see King Chip aka Chip tha Ripper blow’n up real soon. And if you don’t please let us know where we went wrong… Until next time check the tracks and post back.

Do You Understand “Kids These Days”???

Kids These Days

Stumbled across this group last week and was initially blown away by what I was hearing, the sound of the horns to my ears felt as good as a breeze on a  humid 98 degree summer day.  In the first few minutes of listening I start looking for information about this group. Surprisingly, I find that this sound I thought was a group is classified as a band. What? A band? A band with real instruments! Bands are not usually associated with hip hop (but not unknown to the culture). So it immediately made me wonder, does it qualify as hip hop or NO??? And as I struggle to decide if I should write of this beautiful creation, I came across a fellow blogger Ido Lanuel whose post titled “How to Find the Root to Anything That Is Bothering You” brought me to this conclusion. Who am I to be the judge? The sound this band, Kids These Days, is creating is a great one. It is a great example to the youth and brings us all together with positive energy. Now that’s my vision for this culture and what I believe we are striving to help bring back! So that makes Kids These Days and their recent mixtape “Traphouse Rock” hip hop.

Kids These Days’ new mixtape “Traphouse Rock” is a fusion of Hip HopJazz, and Soul, with a twist of Rock that they blend perfectly to the point of making you feel happy on the inside. Each genre you hear rotates through from track to track controlling the mood of the song; with a wide range of emotions between every song. For example, you can look forward to hearing a very laid back sound with a down south feel of Soul/ Blues. And next an upbeat with a hip hop/ rock kind of feel. Granted I do think the listener needs to have an ear that appreciates real instrument sound, like a real sax or a real guitar player or a real drummer. Picture The Roots with a live band kinda… I don’t know it just sounds good!

But don’t just take my word, like I tell you every week, CHECK THE TRACKS! You will find at least one track you love. Then let us know we were right by leaving a comment and saying so (just kidding). But whatever you do, at least if you’re going to read this you might as well listen… Til next time, check the tracks and post back!!!
